About Tom

Tom Salzer

There are things I want to write about that don’t fit into the constraints of my day job, nor do they fit with my consulting work.

Sometimes I have a point I want to make.  Sometimes I simply want to capture what I’m thinking, so I can read it later and be amazed.

Self portrait, sailing near the Tacoma Narrows

Who am I? The easier answer is what: husband, father, technologist, geologist, consultant, conservationist, sailor. I enjoy most music…yes, even opera on occasion.

I see patterns and connections every day, and irony and humor brighten my days. I am still here, which is a wonder to me; it helps make every day a blessing.

I value different ideas, different ways of presenting ideas, and differences in general, because it is those differences that create the spice and energy that help move us forward.

Thanks for the tip Mark! The pressure cooker is great. I can make a good meal out of hearty fixins, then package up a week's worth of individual meals in the vacuum seal bags.
